Survey methods for complex litigation
Video surveys are a research tool used to assess complex cases with a large sample size. Consultants from JRI record video statements summarizing the positions of the plaintiffs and defendants in a dispute. These video statements are edited and combined with appropriate demonstrative exhibits to create a video program which is then presented to large panels of jury eligible community residents. This exercise not only provides a powerful assessment of case themes, but provides data for use in jury selection. This methodology is statistically powerful while also providing the necessary safeguards to protect the work product of those involved in high stakes litigation.
